MOVIES
Robert De Niro and Bradley Cooper have been signed to star in The Dark Fields, a thriller based on a novel by Alan Glynn. Neil Burger is directing, and one of the three producers, Leslie Dixon, wrote the screenplay for the film, which begins filming in May.
Oliver Stone is on board to direct the screen adaptation of Don Winslow's thriller about Laguna Beach drug cartels, titled Savages. The novel itself won't even be released until July of this year.
TV
Looks like David Morrissey is going to portray DI Tom Thorne in Sky1's adaptation of Mark Billingham's crime novels. The six-part TV series will debut in the fall.
For fans of the original TV series Hawaii Five-O, "book 'em, Danno" became a classic catch-phrase. Time will tell if the producers of the remake have actor Scott Caan, recently signed for that role, say it for old time's sake.
Fox took its time making the decision, but has signed on JJ Abrams' Fringe for a third season. The show that was placed in a challenging Thursday-night spot this season, will possibly join Lie to Me and Human
Target in getting renewed, although the network is waiting to see
how the ratings go for those two series a while longer before making a
final decision.
The casting news for the fall season's pilots and new series keep coming fast and furious. The Hollywood Reporter has word that Jeri Ryan is joining ABC's drama Body of Evidence, a procedural focused on a brilliant, tenacious
medical examiner, and Robert Patrick has joined another ABC drama Edgar Floats, about a police psychologist-turned-bounty hunter. NiceGirls TV has a lot more casting news, which you can read about here.
