Sunday Music Treat

Four men's voices, tam-tam, tubular bells, bass drum, and organ = a truly haunting piece that is a little miracle of text painting. It's De Profundis ("Out of the Depths") composed by Estonian Arvo Pärt and first performed by the Hilliard Ensemble in 1980 (who we hear in this recording). I still remember the first time I heard it and how it blew me away.
