Because the pace of our hectic contemporary lifestyles makes it less likely we'll have time to interact with other humans on any meaningful level, reading fiction provides both time and opportunity to think deeply about the feelings of others and imagine alternate worlds and lives. So all you MBA schools out there: make sure you include fiction in your reading assignments.
